Alumni History
Like many Kappa men before them, Brothers A. G. Kirby, W.T. Chaney, A.K. Lawrence, J. A. Gordon, H. W. Foster, M.D. Jordan, R.K. Bernard, W. H. Haithrock, W. A. Greenberry, C. W. Dawson and L. B. Barron had dreams of one day establishing an alumni chapter in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. These Brothers dreams were realized on the 19th day of April, 1953, when these eleven Brothers became chartered members of the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
From this beginning in 1953 came a strong and viable organization which was dedicated to the principles on which the Grand Chapter was founded. In its formative years, the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter experienced growth in membership and productivity.
On the 6th day of May, 1953, at 7:50p.m., an organizational meeting of the Pine Bluff Alumni was called on the campus of Arkansas A. M.& N. College.
The first officers were:

Keeper of Records: A.K. Lawrence Keeper of Exchequer: A.K. Lawrence Strategus: J. A. Gordon
Lt. Strategus: H. W. Foster
Board of Directors:-W. T. Cheney and M.D. Jordan

In its early years, meetings were held at each brother's home on a rotating basis.
On the 5th day of October, 1954, in the Student Union Building of A,
​
M. & N College, the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter and Gamma Sigma Chapter held a meeting with Grand Polemarch Greene and Provencal Polemarch White of the Southwestern Provence being present. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the new handshake and other policies and procedures of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The first Black and White Ball was held on the 29th Day of December, 1954.
This chapter is truly dedicated to achievement in every field of human endeavor. This chapter includes doctors, lawyers, dentist, politicians, school teachers, business owners, certified public accounts, and corporate executives. The former mayor of Pine Bluff, Carl Redus, Jr., is a member, the Sheriff of Jefferson County, Gerald Robinson, is a member, the Arkansas State Trooper of the Year, Lloyd Franklin, is a member. The Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter consists of 40 current financial members, who are in good standing with the Grand Chapter.

The Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter takes great pride in its many achievements and provides continuous efforts to make a difference in the community. On the 1st of June, 2005, the dreams of many of the Brothers came true when we purchased a place to call home, 1911 North University Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

On September 13th through September 15, 2007, Gamma Sigma, Kappa Eta and the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter, hosted the C. Roger Wilson Leader Conference, which was attended by 418 Brothers from Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The Grand Polemarch, Dwayne M. Murray, and the Grand Vice-Polemarch, W. Randy Bates, attended the conference. The conference was held at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and the new fraternity house at 1911 North University Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
On the 14th day of September, 2007, Grand Polemarch Dwayne Murray, was the key note speaker for the dedication of our new home located at 1911North University Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. A reception was held after the dedication at the Reynold’s Center in down town Pine Bluff.

MRS. GORDON WAS KIND ENOUGH TO DONATE IDS WELL KEPT RECORDS TO THE PINE BLUFF ALUMNI CHAPTER.
